To suffer bereavement is perhaps one of the most significant emotional events that any of us can experience in our lives. Going through the grief process is an essential part of coming to terms with the loss of a loved one.
Grief in itself can be among the most debilitating collection of emotions that a person will ever face. It consists of what could be called the "primary emotions"; of anger - sadness - guilt - fear with all of these often being felt at a time of significant change.
For the vast majority of people, these feelings do pass in the fullness of time, but for some, they become stuck within the cycle of grief and feel unable to move forward with their lives.
Each loss is unique to each of us. There is no right or wrong way to grieve, but when grief becomes complicated and complex it can be completely devastating for the person suffering its effects.
As a qualified Funeral Director, I have many years experience dealing with the bereaved.
When I retrained as a Cognitive Hypnotherapist, I very quickly realised that many of the techniques I was learning could really help people who have become stuck in what must seem the ever decreasing circle of grief.
